According to a National Skills Development Corporation study, India needs to meet the target of skilling 500 million youth in India by 2022.
Skill Development was even mentioned during the Independence Day speech by the Prime Minister. However, before one can even contemplate on ideas and policies to address this mammoth task, we need to address the issue of a shortage of trainers, a critical piece of this enormous jigsaw puzzle. Everyone is talking about the training of youth across 21 sectors; not much is being done about the training of trainers ---and who will groom and train them.
THE QUIET REVOLUTION
It is in this niche area that Stanley David and Associates, a leading Soft Skills Training company, headquartered in Bangalore, has decided to focus upon. They have set themselves an ambitious target of training 10,000 trainers in the next three years; and a total of 50,000 trainers by 2020.
They are launching a MASTER TRAINER CERTIFICATE (MTC) programme, which they will conduct across India. These Master Trainers will in turn train others by cascading skills, knowledge and attitudes to the unemployed, under-employed and aspiring young people across our country and beyond.
Quietly, a significant revolutionary step is being taken: the creation of Soft Skills Dronacharyas across India, who will then augment themselves with domain knowledge, and address the skill development needs of the youth of India.
